The UK not-for-profit sector plays an essential role in addressing social issues and providing essential services to vulnerable populations. However, we also know the sector faces significant recruitment challenges that is hindering its ability to attract and retain top talent and ensure its continued success.
60% of charities in the UK had recruitment difficulties in 2020, with 63% of those citing a lack of suitable candidates as the main reason. Additionally, a report by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) found that the voluntary sector in the UK had the highest vacancy rate of any sector in 2020, with an average of 12.8% of posts unfilled.
The COVID-19 pandemic has also had a significant impact on the sector whereby 41% of charities had to pause recruitment during the pandemic, and 53% reported a decrease in the number of applicants.
Unlike many of our competitors who will just post your advert on job boards and hope for the best that quality candidates will apply, we undertake a thorough and comprehensive analysis of your existing advert and Employer Value Proposition – check out this short one minute video about our process.
And the numbers speak for themselves – as of May 2023, data from one of our job board partners, Reed.co.uk, shows that on average, we get 24% more applications per advert in the not-for-profit sector than non-Hiring Wizard adverts. Furthermore, the latest figures from TotalJobs show we achieve 22% more applications than the average for non-Hiring Wizard adverts, whilst we also see a 35% uplift on branded adverts compared with the standard recruitment agency ones – emphasising the need for well branded adverts.
